Kayda Sports Academy History

Katwe Youth Development Association (KAYDA) is Non Government organization started by youth leaders in the area in 1995 as a CBO, after being overwhelmed by the number of street children searching for shelter and belonging among the community in Kampala, Uganda. KAYDA was established as a Non Government Organization by the NGO board on 17th July 1995.

It is managed and governed by the guidance of the constitution, which is observed by all the members and in its operations. It is non ethnic, non religious, not sectarian and not political in its operations. It was established with the over all aim of helping street children and youth leave the streets and become self reliant. The organization was formally registered in 1996.

In fulfilling one of its objectives Kayda Sports Academy (KASA) was established in 1996 that accommodates youths and children in various sports disciplines but mainly soccer and netball. Since then the academy has produced many players up to the national and international level in soccer. The academy is affiliated to KAYDA and works with the football governing body in the country, Confederation of African Nations, and FIFA.
